I completed my B.Tech (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 1985. I joined Bharat Electronics Limited, (BEL) Ghaziabad in 1985 as Deputy Engineer in Development and Engineering Division. I was involved in developing and engineering ruggedized racks, sub-racks, display consoles, shelters conforming to stringent defence standards of various types of Radars and Combat Management Systems. I shifted to the procurement wing of BEL Ghaziabad in 2010.
I am presently working as the Head of Material Management in the SBU (Strategic Business Unit) of BEL Ghaziabad. In the past months, there has been a lot of encouragement and importance being given to CPPP by our top management to all executives for proactive learning and completion of this course.
I feel that professionals need to have procurement specific qualifications to run public procurement activities and minimize bias at any stage of procurement. However, one should always keep in mind the availability of the right quality and quantity of material at the right time and place.
The greatness of this course lies in the fact that one doesn’t have to be an expert or professional in Public Procurement to understand various concepts, operations and governance issues related to Public Procurement. The course material has been lucidly explained over audio presentations, examples and activities. It is expected that more and more people should be a part of this learning program initiated by World Bank.
